Booka Brass

Every year this Guinness Cork Jazz Festival comes to the city. The Opera House hosts some of the biggest gigs of the festival and this year was no different. Booka Brass once again returned to Cork to a sell out show. They decided this gig would be the perfect set up for a music video.

There was quite a bit of planning as we only had one chance to film the actual song during the gig. As we were a two man team, we had a mapped out shot-list for the concert. We would focus on the band for the chosen songs, and then get filler for the rest of the concert. To avoid being on the stage in the crowd’s way for close ups, we filmed two rounds of the song during the soundcheck earlier that day (making sure we had the lighting team onboard to keep a consistent look). This allowed us to get up close and personal with the band, as well as getting Ronin glide-cam shots.
