Songwriter Film

Songwriter is an intimate and personal look into the writing process of one of the worlds leading artists – Ed Sheeran. Directed by his cousin Murray, Songwriter details the creation of Ed’s third studio album “Divide” and gives an authentic insight into Ed’s life through never before seen home videos. Witness first hand the creativity, from the very first chord to the finishing touch – as the sounds become the songs


Dog Day Media Involvement

It’s been a great 3 years being part of this film. Billy initially joined the project as a second cameraman to Murray (Director) and between the two of them, they filmed Ed’s album being made. Billy also took on the role of 2nd Unit Director, making frequent trips to the UK to capture different stages of the album process.

William joined once the film had entered the post-production stage. He was responsible for all graphic elements. This included animated scenes, visual effects, titles, credit roll.

On the film’s completion. Dog Day Media worked on a marketing package for the film. Creating the website / social media / poster / postcards / business cards.


Ed Sheeran’s Songwriter documentary will be available worldwide exclusively on Apple Music on August 28. The film will have a theatrical release in New York on August 17 and Los Angeles on August 24.

Premiere | Berlin Film festival

The film’s premiere was at the prestigious Berlinale (Berlin Film Festival) where it received a special gala and red carpet reception. The film screened in the beautiful Alexanderplatz, with a capacity of 1,500.

The film stayed at the festival for a further four showings across difference theatres.
